For personnel who operate on frozen, large volume rivers with open leads

This one day session can be added to our two-day Ice Rescue Technician course to address the substantially higher-risk environment of large volume rivers with open leads between ice mantles.

The day covers size up, risk analysis, and hazard mitigation, PPE considerations, self-rescue techniques, and throw bagging. Scenario-based training using both standard and improvised ice rescue equipment will be carried out.

Note: This course meets and exceeds the standard-of-care for personnel who work or travel on surface ice. Pre-requisites include current Ice Rescue Technician (IRT) AND Swiftwater Rescue Technician (SRT 1) certifications.
