Outdoor Adventure

Motorized Swiftwater Boat Operator

Course Summary

Safety and efficiency on moving water.

We provide comprehensive, hands-on training for boat operators that can be easily tailored to any type of watercraft on moving water. This includes jet boats, propellor driven boats and personal watercraft.

According to the Lifesaving Society, powerboating is the second highest cause of preventable water-related drownings. This comprehensive course will develop the sense of confidence and necessary skills to operate a boat at various speeds in moving water, and to avoid becoming a statistic. The curriculum includes pre-trip safety checks, identification of hazards, basic hydrology, watercraft handling, man-overboard, boat-based victim rescue, dealing with flips, wraps and pins, and general on-water safety.

Limited classroom time and a low student to instructor ratio makes for lots of hands-on practice time for each participant.

We do not offer these courses on a public, open enrolment basis, but our minimum class size is only six, so contact us to set up a private course for your group. Please note: clients must provide their own watercraft. We also provide Transport Canada courses, alone or in combination with our hands-on boat operator training, including SVOP, MED A3 and PCOC. TESTIMONIALS

Rick Huck, Lieutenant
Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Service

We had a mixed bag of students, from firefighters, environment workers and a contractor. I would recommend Raven Rescue to anyone who wants to learn about ice rescue. Once again, GREAT course and instructor. Thanks so much.
