Outdoor Adventure

Wilderness First Aid

Course Summary

The Basics (16 hours)

This course is an excellent introduction to wilderness emergency care for those who venture out into nature's playground for personal recreation, but will also serve as a good introduction to wilderness first aid for those working in industry, resource management, and search and rescue.

Participants will be equipped with the basic knowledge and skills to adapt first aid techniques to wilderness locations where resources are limited. Students will be able to identify potentially life threatening emergencies, assess their severity, and respond within a wilderness context. This course is ideal for those who want a brief but intense introduction to wilderness first aid. Adult CPR is included.

Henry Madsen, Principal
Nellie Carsen School

Thank you for all your work helping me recert. I wanted to share how professional, task oriented, and effective Travis is as an instructor. He has clear objectives every lesson, knows how to refocus a class while still allowing for appropriate "story telling", gives palatable and constructive feedback, and focuses on learning rather than just teaching. I could go on, but suffice it to say that Travis was outstanding in so many ways.
